Dentures are a complete replacement of an individual's teeth. Complete dentures cover all the teeth on the top or all the teeth on the bottom. Sometimes there are partial dentures where a patient may still have, or a person may still have some of their teeth and the dentures are just filling in the gaps in between.
Dentures are something that's removable that comes out. They're typically a more cost-effective way of replacing teeth and say implants or bridges. They are not as proficient with chewing, but they do fill in the gaps and they do replace teeth that are missing.
Most of the common concerns that patients have with dentures are if they've not had them before, or if they don't know anyone who's had them, they are just looking for maybe what the shortcomings could be or what the challenges might be. Most of our patients either have a parent or a relative or someone who they know has had dentures, and they had heard some of the stories from them all the way from, had my teeth taken out and dentures put in 25 years ago and haven't done anything since, or they already know what some of the challenges are going to be before they start. And then they're looking for ways that. . .or things that we might be able to do to help alleviate some of those challenges.
